FROM THE WEB: HOW TO TAKE LIFESTYLE PORTRAITS

There is a minute difference between taking a portrait of your child and taking a lifestyle portrait. For one, you whip out the camera whenever and ask your child to pose or say “cheese” – perhaps you even go as far as to capture a candid moment. Lifestyle portraits take it up a notch, besides including your child in the photo you are trying to include something about who they are, such as their interests, friends, or personality.

For example: Your son loves to play drums, so rather than photographing the same old head shot or posed seated shot you take a photo of him with his drum set, setting up, playing, or just having fun. This photo says a lot more about your child than one that is just him alone, and this technique can also be applied to groups of siblings or a family portrait. Check out the tips at Photography Talk and give it a try!
